Our Musical Director is standing down in November 2016 after 3 successful years and we are looking for an inspirational and motivated Musical Director to succeed them, preferably from Easter 2017.

Southend Festival Chorus is an auditioned choir of about 75 mixed voices, based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. The choir was formed almost 48 years ago and has built a reputation in the local area for a high standard of performance. We present 3 or 4 concerts each year in the South East Essex area, some a cappella and some with orchestral or organ accompaniment. Our repertoire has covered a wide variety of choral singing, including both familiar and lesser known works.

Rehearsals are held each Wednesday between 7.45pm and 9.45pm at St Peter's Church, Eastbourne Grove, Westcliff-on-Sea, SS0 0QF. In addition to directing rehearsals and conducting concerts, the Musical Director is asked to devise the future programme in discussion with the committee. The Musical Director will also assist in the selection of orchestras and soloists.

Those applicants shortlisted will be asked to attend an interview. If successful at the interview you will be asked to direct part of a choir rehearsal. (Note: the directing part of the process may be held on a Saturday)

All applicants are invited to observe an evening rehearsal. To make an initial enquiry please email the secretary Jess Ellis.

The closing date for applications is 30th September 2016.
