An audition is usually given after two or three weeks of singing with us. This is informal and is carried out by Mary Henry with the ladies and Les Davis with the men. It is necessary to be able to sing in tune and to blend with other voices. Although the ability to sight read is desirable, it is not essential. We suggest that a hymn or song be brought along to the audition to be sung. We stress that a high degree of commitment is expected of our members, and regular attendance is expected at rehearsals. If it is felt that a member has missed too many rehearsals, the committee may consider it necessary, in consultation with the conductor, to ask a member not to sing in a concert.

Uniform

MEN. Black dress suit, white shirt, black shoes and socks and a black bow tie. At the annual carol concert in the Cliffs Pavilion, a coloured bow tie may be worn.
LADIES. A FULL LENGTH BLACK SKIRT touching the top of the foot. We do have some black skirts in stock. A PLAIN BLACK TOP, ROUND NECK, no buttons showing at the front. BLACK SHOES AND BLACK TIGHTS. The choir will provide, ON LOAN, a coloured jacket, WHICH MUST BE RETURNED ON LEAVING THE CHOIR. Please launder the jacket with great care, either by hand or on the delicates setting in the washing machine, then hung up on a hanger to dry. Do not tumble dry. No jewellery to be worn except pinhead studs for pierced ears. A black folder is required to hold the music. The member must provide this. They are easily obtainable from stationary shops, do not buy a ring binder type. We expect ALL our members to strictly observe our uniform requirements so that we can present an over all smart appearance.
